Background
Somewhere in 2015, I was the VFX supervisor on a shoot for a commercial starring three professional freerunners. I helped design the shots in the animatic stage (this is sort of a moving storyboard where very basic animation techniques are used to block the shots), and the entire commercial was shot in one of the largest indoor green-screen studio in the Netherlands.
I can't disclose the company we made the commercial for, but the actual commercial requested that we created the environment in 3D, but not fractal.
In 2017 I asked the production if I was allowed to 'remix' the greenscreen footage, and they obliged. So I re-edited the shots, and created environments in Mandelbulb3D.
The very first time I saw a Mandelbulb I was imagining a girl freerunning through the infinite structures, and this is to date the closest thing that I've been able to create.
I wish this could be a longer piece, with a better narrative, but unfortunately, for now that would be too time consuming.
